Back in 1993, we aimed to keep things simple. Our phone style buttons and LCD screen made that easy. With a few button presses, your TRC 1000 was up and running. We have used that same style circuit board controller for 30 years now, mostly because it is simple, and it works.
So why the change?
Three reasons. The first reason is in the 90s we could not imagine the kinds of advanced technology that would be widely produced and available now. There are better options out there now, at affordable prices. Our new controllers have fewer components, more standardized parts, and a touchscreen. What’s not to like?
Second, is customizability. Our Generation 3 controllers have more memory and more customizability than we could ever have with a circuit board. Want to add two or more marking attachments? A specialized cutter or sensors for your next project? No problem!
Third is parts availability. The 90’s were great. Radio shack was still a thing. While we hoped our cutters and controllers would last forever, we knew this day would come.
We held on for our customers, so they could get the most out of their investments into our machines. It’s hard to get some of the parts for our circuit boards, which are made in house. While other manufacturers of strip cutters outsource their entire machines to Asia, ours are made right here in Missouri, including our circuit boards. But parts are scarce, and there are simply better options. Enter Generation 3!
